At Red Mountain Makers, we make, invent, design, build, and manifest whatever we want to see come into reality. If you’ve ever thought to yourself, It would be great if I just had [insert your imagination here], that’s what we make. Maybe it’s a special tool, a robot, a new article of clothing, a fancy lighting device, a new invention, a sculpture, a drawing, a part that has been printed to fix the broken piece, or even an intricate cosplay/Halloween costume. We make our imagination real.
Mission Statement: Our purpose is to engage in scientific and artistic research, experimentation, and education. We provide a workspace, a collaborative and supportive community of peers, and project-based education related to technology and artistic expression. We also support the use and development of free and open software, hardware, and design. Red Mountain makers is a nonprofit organization.
The main focus of the Luminaries workshop is to invite people to help design lantern panels that will both illuminate and cast shadows around the performance space. We hope that community involvement will help get citizens emotionally invested in the project and the space. While we are still in discussions as to the details of the final project we are considering having the LED lights be able to be controlled and change color remotely. This potential option may also be a way for the community to have further hands on involvement with the project and with the events going on in the East Lake area within and surrounding the College Theater. Workshops will be held in The East Lake Performing Arts Center : Gallery 3 on Oct 8th from 6-8 pm and on Oct 17th from 11am-1pm.
